Where design meets sustainability

Our Story

The word “Kuno” is derived from the Indonesian term for “ancient,” and it reflects the spirit of our villas, which are built with a deep respect for tradition. The resort is constructed using reclaimed and recycled teak wood, much of which is over a century old. These materials tell a story of craftsmanship and sustainability, passed down from previous generations, ensuring that we preserve the beauty and heritage of Indonesia for future generations.

When we started building Kuno Villas, we envisioned a space where luxury could exist in balance with nature. Our vision was to merge the knowledge of traditional Indonesian homes with high-end, eco-friendly amenities. Through meticulous planning and a commitment to sustainable building practices, we’ve created an idyllic retreat that offers guests an intimate, eco-conscious experience.

Sustainability at the Core

From the moment we began our journey, sustainability has been at the heart of everything we do. Our building materials, primarily sourced from Java, were once the homes of nobility and aristocracy. These charming, antique structures have been carefully restored to maintain their original beauty while providing modern comforts.

Beyond the materials, we continue to implement eco-friendly practices throughout the resort. We prioritize waste management, energy efficiency, and the use of natural resources. Our goal is to minimize our environmental footprint while providing a luxurious, eco-conscious escape for our guests.

A Blend of Tradition and Luxury

Each villa at Kuno Villas is a blend of Indonesian, French, and English influences. The interiors are thoughtfully designed by The Old Tree Company and Sasuka Interior Designers, combining antique charm with contemporary luxury. Our villas are not just places to stay—they are experiences in themselves, offering comfort and style in an atmosphere of tranquility.

Careful attention has been paid to every detail, from the elegant furnishings to the eco-friendly amenities that ensure your stay is both luxurious and sustainable.

Our Mission

At Kuno Villas, we believe that luxury should not come at the expense of the environment. Our mission is to provide guests with an unforgettable experience in a setting that respects and preserves the natural beauty of Gili Trawangan. We are committed to providing the highest level of service and hospitality while upholding our dedication to sustainability.

We invite you to enjoy the beauty, peace, and serenity of our villas, where you can truly experience the best of both worlds—luxury and nature, tradition and innovation.

Our Eco-Friendly Practices

Reclaimed Wood

All the villas are constructed using reclaimed and recycled old teak wood, which not only preserves the integrity of the environment but also gives the resort a unique, rustic charm.

Waste Management

We have implemented ongoing waste management systems that help reduce the environmental impact of the resort, focusing on recycling and reducing waste at every step.

Energy Efficiency

Our energy solutions are designed to minimize consumption, including energy-saving appliances and natural ventilation systems in the villas.

We use eco-friendly systems to conserve water throughout the property, including rainwater collection and filtration systems to ensure that we use water responsibly.
